Drink Dictionary: Letter M



Madeira: A fortified Portuguese wine aged between 6 months in warm casks.

Malt Liquor: A beverage made in the same way as beer, but with a much higher alcohol content (often 8 percent).

Maple Syrup: A thick, viscous sugary syrup from Maple tree sap.

Maraschino Cherries: Extremely sweetened cherries which are soaked in red, sugary juice.

Margarita Mix: A lemon-lime mix that allows you to make margaritas by just adding ice and alcohol.

Mezcal: A spirit like tequila but of lower quality: the cactus used to obtain the sap is not the blue agave.

Mexican Chocolate: Like normal chocolate, but with added cinnamon flavor.

Molasses: A viscous, brown, bittersweet sugar syrup. An important ingredient in Bloody Mary mix and good oatmeal.
