Drink Dictionary: Letter G



Galliano: A 70 proof liqueur flavored with roots and spices.

Gin: An alcoholic drink that is distilled from malted grain and is flavored with juniper berries.

Godiva: It is a 34-proof fine chocolate liqueur. It comes in White Chocolate and Dark Chocolate varieties.

Gold: An adjective used typically to describe rums with a strong flavor and a nontrivial sweetness.

Goldschlager: An 80-proof cinnamon schnapps with gold flakes floating around in the bottle.

Grain Alcohol: The azeotrope of ethyl alcohol (AKA ethanol, and more commonly known as just 'alcohol'). It's 95% ethanol, 5% water. Everclear is grain alcohol.

Grand Marnier: A cognac-based liqueur whose added flavor comes from the essence of zested orange peel.

Grappa: A high-proof Italian brandy made from grape stalks.

Grenadine: A delicious, non-alcoholic red syrup often used for colouring and some added sweetness in cocktails.

Guinness: The most famous Stout, and produced in Ireland.
