B And B: A dry blend of Cognac and Benedictine.

Bacardi 151: A 151 proof rum; that is, it's 75.5 per cent alcohol by volume. This is such high alcohol content that the bottles actually come with flameguards.

Bar Mix: A mixture of lemon juice and sugar syrup. Also known as Sour Mix or Sweet and Sour Mix.

Beer: The cause of and solution to all of life's problems (thank you, Homer Simpson). Also, an alcoholic beverage that is brewed from malted barley and hops.

Benedictine: A delectable brandy liqueur flavored by a secret formula by the Benedictine monks.

Bitters: A spirit whose taste matches its name. It has the essence of roots, bark, and herbs.

Black Currant: An adjective suggesting that something is flavored with black currants, or at least with some chemical made in New Jersey that bears some middling resemblance to the glorious taste contained within real black currants. Black currant infused vodkas have smooth berry overtones.

Bloody Mary Mix: A mixture that has everything you need to make a Bloody Mary except the vodka.

Bourbon: Bourbon Whiskey is an All-American spirit. It is distilled from a minimum of 51% corn and a blend of barley and rye or wheat. The difference between Bourbon and Sour Mash Whiskey is just the location of the spirits' production: Bourbons must come from the county bearing the same name in Kentucky.

Brandy: A spirit distilled from fermented fruits and usually containing 40 percent alcohol.

Brown Creme De Cacao: A brown liqueur made from the cocoa bean.
